The Rape of the Sabine Women is a painting by Peter Paul Rubens. It depicts a dramatic scene from Roman mythology where Roman men abduct Sabine women to start a new city. The painting was commissioned by Philip IV of Spain in 1639 but remained incomplete at Rubens' death in 1640, later finished by Gaspar de Crayer.
