作品描述

The Dog is a painting by Francisco de Goya depicting the head of a dog gazing upwards. The dog is almost lost in the vast emptiness of the image, with only a dark sloping area near the bottom concealing its body. The placard at the Museo del Prado suggests the dog is in distress, seemingly drowning. Created in 1819, this work is part of Goya's series of etchings and paintings exploring themes of existential despair and isolation.
