Red Cavalry Riding is an oil on canvas painting from 1932 by Kazimir Malevich. It depicts Red Cavalry horsemen racing across a plain, with the ground beneath them illustrated with Suprematist stripings of color. The painting is considered Malevich's only contribution to the official pantheon of Soviet art, and its recognition by the Soviets was ensured by the politically correct title. Malevich also included the year '18 год' in the lower right corner and wrote a short verse on the back about the Red Cavalry defending the Soviet frontier.
