作品描述
The Mystic Flower is an oil-on-canvas painting by the French Symbolist painter Gustave Moreau, created around 1890. A religious work inspired by Carpaccio's Apotheosis of Saint Ursula, which Moreau studied during his time in Venice, the painting depicts a scene of sacrifice and martyrdom. At 2.53 metres tall, it concludes Moreau's Cycle of Man by emphasizing the importance of heroic sacrifice through its portrayal of a mystical floral motif, symbolizing spiritual transcendence.
